PROJECTS
Typical projects consist of:
  • Topographical surveys of green and brown field sites for development or redevelopment, typically at a scale of 1:500 or 1:200.
  • Highway surveys for consulting engineers.
  • Quarry and landfill sites with volume calculations and associated reclamation working plans for local authorities and private companies, including monitoring, profiling, stockpile analysis and cut-and-fill.
  • Boundary disputes for individuals or groups - we can provide an impartial plan of what exists of a boundary as a basis for negotiation.
  • Measured building surveys consisting of:
    • Floor plans,
    • Roof Plans,
    • Elevations (by direct measurement or remotely) and
    • Sectional drawings.
    Typically at a scale of 1:50 or 1:100.
  • Setting out work for boundaries and construction.
  • Riverbed surveys.
  • Establish permanent control for future work.

We currently use Sokkia and Topcon Total Station Theodolites, which are coupled to, or have integrated data recorders for field data capture. These are downloaded to Pentium office computers running AutoCAD release 14, 2000 and 2004, Civil Cad and Sokkia software.

The surveys are produced on a HP 500 Design Jet plotter on stable film or if preferred, paper. A DWG and DXF output format can be supplied on floppy disk or CD as required, or alternatively sent via e-mail. Additionally a file of 3D points, lines and contours can be provided for use in DTM modelling.

The whole system is designed to offer a high degree of accuracy and precision, with faster processing and increased standardisation.

We operate a flexible Quality Assurance system. The basic rules of surveying tend to hold up for all types of work, but we vary the amount of specifications used according to the merits of each project. Generally, our clients give us a good indication of what they require, and this forms the basis for the standard of work to achieve.
